DIRECTOR'S VISION OF "ALIBI INC."
BUSINESS IS ABOUT EXPECTATIONS AND LIES
Is the lie more human than the truth? For sure, it comes from the fear, conscious or not, of looking at reality as it is. And among all the human enterprises, before the truth jumps to our face, there is Alibi Inc.
The characters often say that they do what they can to struggle and survive in a hostile world. The image they have of the world is harsh and cruel. In this market where egos are fighting each other, there is no one to punish the villains. Divine intervention is non-existent. They are the prey of the blind ironic fate.
Clément sincerely thinks that business is about expectations and lies. As we all have to make a living, it’s a good excuse for him. Confined to his office for the last ten years, where the light is bleak and the windows closed, Clément creates and sells alibis instead of writing the poems he has in his head. His business covers up all your little white lies and pulls you out of your tiresome meetings. Efficiency and confidentiality guaranteed. Its originality and strength? All of the customers’ lies are linked together in a solid and unbreakable architecture. The system is undetectable. Invisible. And everywhere. He doesn’t necessarily approve of what he does, but the “world” is expecting his lies in order to make a living. Clément is bitter, and even though he has stopped having scruples about his job, the master of illusions is tired.
Under the distorting image of the lens, Alibi Inc. offers a reflection about the relationship we have with lies… and ourselves. Alibi Inc takes place in a project of three short films about lies, beliefs and credulity.
